Physalis angulata or ground Cherry, also known as Wild Tomato is a herbaceous annual species belong to night shade family. It is native plant to America and now naturalized in Sri Lanka as a weed, mostly in wet zone in low country. The plant can be found on road sideways disturbance wood land like abandoned agricultural land. It produces edible green fruits, but It is commonly not eat in Sri Lanka and no evidence to use as a herb. This is one of three species in genus Physalis which is found in Sri Lanka.
