The Calabash Tree is a native plant to South Africa and introduced plant to Sri Lanka as a ornamental plant. It is occasionally found on home gardens in Sri Lanka. It has many medicinal properties and uses but it does not any pursuit in the country. The tree normally reach to 6- 7 meters in height and produces large globulose fruits reach diameter about 30 cm sometime to 40 cm. Ten centimeters wide Flowers are yellow in color and bloom at evening with emitting little odor.
