Monochoria vaginalis is a aquatic plant Native to Sri Lanka and many other Asian countries including India. The plant is consider as a weed but not much invasive. It is commonly found on slow-moving or standing water bodies such as border of tanks, paddy fields or marsh land in wet zone or dry zone. The plant is a leaf vegetable and sometime used in folk medicine.
