Princess Bean - Winged Bean - Dambala

"Winged Bean" or "Dambala"is a common vegetable in Sri Lanka, native to Pacific and Southeast Asian countries and introduced plant to Sri Lanka as a high nutritional value vegetable. Plants widely cultivated as both commercially and garden crop. It is a climbing vine similar in appearance to vine of Green Bean or long bean. Also has many varieties subspecies, and many hybrids. The plant produce 10-30 cm long square shape pods that are use as a Cooking Vegetable and leaves are use as a mix leaf vegetable.The plant produces tubers remain underground about 2 or 3 years and regrow during the next growing season. Also the tubers and seeds can be used as a Vegetable.
