Violet Asystasia is a species of family Acanthaceae. It is indigenous plant to Sri Lanka and India. This is a herbaceous climbing plant reaching 1 or 2 meters in height if has other plant for support. The plant is a important medicinal plant but consider as a weed and commonly grow on sideways,wood lands, paddy field borders or waste lands in low country wet zone. The plant called in Sri Lanka as 'Gada Puruk' in Sinhalese and has numerous other names and plants look alike this plants and name, that people have often confused.
