Eryngium foetidum is a flowering plant commonly called 'Spirit Weed' native to South America and naturalized in low country wet zone in Sri Lanka. It is found on grassland, shrub lands as a weed or as a cultivated plant on home gardens. It is used for snakebite in Ayurveda and consider that it is a repellent plant for snakes specialty for cobras and therefore some people cultivate the plants around home.
