Malpighia emarginata, or Barbados cherry fruit is a newly introduced flowering plants to Sri Lanka from it's autochthonous countries which are South America and Central America. Barbados cherry fruit, also known as Wild crepe myrtle is a fast growing small evergreen tree  about 4 or 5 meters tall hotly naturalizes in home gardens throughout Sri Lanka as a fruit or and a ornamental plant. Brighten red small fruits are spectacular so widely cultivates in home gardens.
