Water Primrose or Seedbox - Beru Diya Milla

Water Primrose is an annual plant native to Sri Lanka, India and China and now naturalized many countries in the world. It is commonly found in wet zone and dry zone in Sri Lanka. The plant is a one of native species of Ludwigia genus also called several Sinhala names same to Ludwigia longifolia, including Beru Diyanilla, Diya Milla, and Boru Diya Milla. It is serious common weeds on paddy fields and other cultivation like other species of genus Ludwigia.

Other native species of Ludwigia genus : Ludwigia adscendens, Ludwigia perennis, Ludwigia prostrata and Ludwigia octovalvis.
