Flowers and plant of black honey shrub-val kaila
Phyllanthus reticulatus, also known as 'Black Honey Shrub' is a deciduous small slender tree or shrub sometime can be scrambling over other plants as a vine. It is native plant to Sri Lanka commonly found on woodlands road sideways forest borders throughout the country mostly in common dry zone.The plant likes to grow away from the sunlight up to 2 or 3 meters in height and ripe fruits are dark purplish and flowers are yellow white. Leaves and inflorescence of the plant is similar to Moringa plant.
The flowers of this plant bloom in the evening and give rise to the blooms several times throughout the year. Leaves and Barks are use in Ayurveda Medicine.
Notable thing about this plant is emits undesirable odors to the atmosphere particularly during the early blossom.
