This plant is an evergreen flowering shrub grows up to 1 meter in height native to Sri Lanka and East Asia. The plant is extinct from the wild and grown as an ornamental plant throughout the tropical areas because it's beautiful inflorescence. The plant has many medicinal properties but not use in Sri Lanka as a herbs. Other related species that also native to Sri Lanka which called "Podi Arisi" in Sinhalese has same medicinal properties and used in herbal remedies in Ayurveda.
