Lane Puwak or Lane Thary-i  ( Lane mean Squirrel in Sinhalese Puwak = Catechu or Betel Nuts )

Areca concinna Palm tree
Areca concinna is a kind of Palm tree, in Areca genus belongs to Arecaceae family. The plant originate to Sri Lanka.and grow well in woodlands, scrub jungles, and along to water streams of wetlands and intermediate zones. As well as it can be found in home gardens but normally, people do not much cultivate in Sri Lanka home gardens. However, nowadays it is naturalizing in many other countries as an ornamental plant because of having beautiful flowers with fragrance, colored fruits and other interesting characteristics of the tree.

Uses :- Lane Puwak or Lane Thary-i  Tradditional Sri Lankans had been used Squirrel catechu for a alternation of  Catechu or Betel Nuts to chewing  Betel  but nowadays, it is negligible.It can be  grow as a ornamental plant.
